Atomic Heart Not Launching, Crashing, Stuttering & Freezing Issue On PC: How to fix it?

Although Atomic Heart is quite optimized, it is still not bug-free. Players are still running into various issues like not launching, crashing, stuttering & freezing while playing it on their PC. All these are serious bugs that completely ruin the whole experience. Naturally, folks are wondering if there is a way to fix these issues. These game-breaking bugs are a big concern among players. This is also because most of the time, the game does not drop any error codes. This means that there is no way to find the cause of such issues. So, if you are also looking for more information, then you have come to the right place.

Atomic Heart is the latest entry to the action RPG genre. Set in a parallel timeline where the Soviet Union builds a Utopian empire, the game has all the things to make it great. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is rather smooth. Players have a wide choice of weapons where they can decide to either use guns or melee against the enemies. You also get some other abilities that help you maneuver the landscape better. Unfortunately, a lot of people are unable to do all these things due to game-breaking bugs.

Atomic Heart Not Launching, Crashing, Stuttering & Freezing Issue On PC: How to fix it?

While there is no official hotfix for such issues as of yet, players are trying every means to fix the problem themselves. Well, here are some workarounds that might help you out-

1) Reboot your PC-

This is the first, and the most basic solution. A lot of times, a bad system boot can also trigger these types of issues in video games. So, close all the programs and then restart your PC. Then, try launching Atomic Heart and check if the issue persists.

2) Update your GPU drivers-

The next step is to update your GPU drivers. This is very important because your GPU is responsible for rendering the games. Outdated drivers can interrupt this function and can trigger various issues. So, visit NVIDIA’s or AMD’s website and download the latest GPU drivers for your PC.

3) Close background tasks-

If you have too many tasks running in the background, then this can cause Atomic Heart to crash, not launch freeze, and even stutter during gameplay. So, press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open the Task Manager. Now, go to the Programs tab and look for any application that is u system resources and close it. Also, try not to use web browsers and apps like Discord and Spotify while playing games.

4) Install DLSS 3.1.1 on your PC-

Now, quite a few people have claimed that installing DLSS 3.1.1 on their PC has helped boost the performance of video games. This method seems to be working for a lot of other games like Hogwarts Legacy and Sons of the Forest too. So, all you have to do is download the file and replace it with the files in the game installation directory. This is generally in /Steam/steamapps/Atomic Heart.

5) Verify the game files-

It is possible that there are some corrupt or missing game files on your PC. You can repair/verify the game files to fix this issue. To do this, just follow these instructions-

  • Open Steam and go to Library.
  • Right-click Atomic heart and select Properties.
  • Head over to the Local Files tab.
  • Click on the Verify integrity of game files option.
  • Wait for the process to complete.

6) Lower the in-game settings-

Well, you need a powerful PC to run the game, so if your system barely meets the game’s requirements, then we recommend lowering the in-game settings. Lower the Graphics, and reduce the in-game resolution to ease the load on your PC.

7) Reinstall the game-

Now, if nothing else works out for you, then reinstall Atomic Heart. Though, we recommend doing this as a last resort. You should also contact customer support for further assistance.
