The bevy of futuristic vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 are mostly just there to help you get from place to place. Sure, they look cool, but you sometimes get the feeling that maybe they could play a part in more than just traversing.
Scissors’ Vehicle Combat mod on NexusMods seems to address that. The main function of the mod, as the title suggests, is that players can aim and fire weapons while controlling Cyberpunk 2077’s rigs. In Scissor’s own words, “There was some functionality in the game’s code to allow the player to use weapons while driving. It looks like it was disabled, but thanks to some workarounds, it’s mostly been restored now.”
That’s pretty neat in itself, but the mod also allows you to use the new vehicle combat system. Cyberpunk 2077 has received a lot of criticism for the way the police reacted in the base game, with police materializing in the general area where you are committing a crime and not chasing you very far.
Vehicle Combat extends the desired system not only for the NCPD, but also for the various gangs and factions that populate Night City. Enemies in the open world, police scanner missions and appearances will now call for backup from their respective factions (Acavengers, Tyger Claws, etc) unless you disable their communication, and will chase you with vehicles if your desired level is high enough is.
Scissors is still working on a few kinks in the implementation, but the mod is largely playable in Cyberpunk 2077’s big 1.5 patch.
