The state at which Ubisoft as a gaming company has been going is just sad to see. It has some of the most well-loved franchises with the likes of Bethesda and Square Enix. Assassin’s Creed which has long ago strayed away from its stealth roots continues to sell a good amount of copies just because of its name. Prince of Persia is stuck in a remake cycle while Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in its early development phase, fifteen years and counting. Rayman is nowhere to be seen and fans have been begging for a new Splinter Cell game for so many years. Even Rainbow Six Seige which was once Ubisoft’s golden duck is having trouble with player retention. And, For Honor couldn’t even break five thousand peak player count in December 2022.
Out of all these franchises, only Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed seem to have been doing good. And it shows as Ubisoft has currently four AC games in the works. Far Cry also saw its recent release in Far Cry 6 which had Giancarlo Esposito as the main villain. However, the game has been criticized quite a bit for its story (an area where Far Cry has been lacking in each game) and the lack of any innovation in the gameplay department. Compared to the latest release, Far Cry 5 has far better gameplay and story. And Far Cry 5 happens to be on Steam too. What better way to play it than using Steam Family Share? Far Cry 5 Steam Family Share: Is It Available
It’s unfortunate news but Far Cry 5 is not playable through Steam Family Share. Why so? Well, it’s mostly to do with Ubisoft. Specifically Uplay. If you didn’t know, Far Cry 5 requires you to connect or have an Uplay account to access the game. And Steam clearly outlines in its FAQ section that games that require third-party accounts can’t be played using Steam Family Share. So, this makes it obvious that Far Cry 5 isn’t compatible with this feature.
