How to fix Digimon Survive PC Crashing, Freezing & Black Screen issues?

Although the Digimon Survive video game has really nice graphics and visuals, PC players often complain about the game crashing, freezing, and occurrence of black screen. These issues can be a result of a software glitch. If you have encountered the same, do not be afraid, as listed below is the step-by-step guide on how to fix them.

Step 1) Restart your PC and launch the game

Simply restarting the PC has been proven to resolve a lot of issues. Consider doing the same to fix the crashing issues in Digimon Survive.

Step 2) Uninstall K-Lite Codec Pack and install VLC media player

Uninstall the K-Lite Codec Pack as it might interfere with the game. Also, consider installing VLC media player as this has worked for many.

Step 3) Uninstall LAV

Uninstall LAV Splitter if installed on your PC and then launch the game.

Step 4) Uninstall CCCP

Uninstall the Combined Community Code Pack (CCCP) codec video pack if you have it installed on your PC.

Step 5) Disconnect External Devices

Unplug secondary monitors connected to the computer before launching the game. Also, if you have unused USB devices connected, make sure to disconnect them as well.

Step 6) Delete Avprovideo.dll

1) Go to Steam Library.

2) Right-click on the game.

3) Select Manage.

4) Click on Browse local files (this takes you to the game installation folder).

5) Click on the Digimon Survive data folder.

6) Click on the Plugin folder.

7) Click on the x86_64 folder.

8) Right-click and copy the Avprovideo.dll icon and paste it to the desktop. After this, delete the original file from the game directory.

9) Restart Steam and launch the game.

Step 7) Do a clean installation of the graphics driver

1) Go to the Nvidia/AMD website.

2) Select your graphics card.

3) Select the right operating system.

4) Click on Start Search.

5) Download the latest GPU drivers and install them. After installing, restart your PC.

Step 8) Delete the saved game file and launch the game

1) Go to File explorer.

2) Go to C drive.

3) Click on the Users folder.

4) Click on your username folder.

5) Open AppData.

6) Open the Locallow folder.

7) Click on the Namco Entertainment folder.

8) Open the Digimon Survive folder.

9) Right-click on the saved data folder and delete it.

10) After this, launch the game.

Step 9) Allow the game .exe file to your antivirus program for windows security and firewall antivirus

For Windows security:

1) Go to the Start menu and click on Settings.

2) Click on privacy and security.

3) For Windows 11, click on Windows Security.

4) For Windows 10, click on Update and Security, then Windows Security.

5) Click on Virus and Threat Protection.

6) Scroll down to Manage Ransomware Protection and click on it.

7) Click on Allow an app through Controlled Folder Access.

8) Click on Yes to allow.

9) Click on Add an Allowed App.

10) Click on Browse all apps.

11) Go to the game installation folder.

12) Locate the game’s .exe file and open it.

13) Immediately after the game is added, launch the game.

For Firewall antivirus

1) Go to the Control Panel.

2) Click on System and Security.

3) Click on Windows Defender Firewall.

4) Click on the Allow an app or feature through the Windows Defender Firewall option.

5) Click on Change Settings.

6) Click on Allow Another App.

7) Click on Browse.

8) Navigate to the game’s .exe file and select it.

9) Click on add and launch the game.

Step 11) Run the game on the dedicated graphics card

1) Go to the windows search box.

2) Click on Graphics settings.

3) Click on browse.

4) Go to the game’s installation folder.

5) Select the game’s .exe file.

6) Click on add.

7) Immediately after the game is added, select the high-performance option, save the setting and launch the game.

Step 12) Verify the game files

1) Go to Steam library.

2) Right-click on the game.

3) Select Properties.

4) Click on Local Files.

5) Click on Verify Integrity of game file and then launch the game.

Step 13) Run the game as an administrator

1) Go to the game installation folder.

2) Right-click on the game’s .exe file.

3) Select Properties.

4) Click on the Compatibility tab.

5) Check the ‘Run this program as an Administrator’ box.

6) Click on apply and launch the game.

Step 14) Disable Steam Overlay

1) Go to Steam library.

2) Right-click on the game.

3) Select Properties.

4) Uncheck the box which says “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”.

5) Launch the game.

Note: Close all the overlay applications running and perform a clean boot.

Step 15) Install visual C++ files

1) Go to the official Microsoft website for downloading the Visual C++ files.

2) Install the x86 and x64 versions.

3) Run the .exe file after downloading the x86 and x64 versions.

4) Click the repair or install option.

5) Restart the PC and launch the game.

Step 16) Update your windows

1) Go to Settings.

2) Click on Windows update.

3) Restart the PC and launch the game.

Step 17) Lower down graphics settings

1) Launch the game.

2) Go to Steam settings.

3) Go to the Display option and set it to Window mode.

4) Turn off Antialiasing and V-sync.

5) Set the Shadow Quality to Medium and lower your in-game resolution.

Step 18) Uninstall and reinstall the game to a different drive

The last option if everything has been tried is to uninstall and reinstall the game on a different drive.
