Is Apex Legends Shutting Down in 2023?

While we wait for the next Titanfall game to come out(hopefully), Apex Legends has to a degree, been able to fill out a giant-Titanfall hole in our hearts. While the game certainly lacks the awesome movement and the Titans of the Titanfall games, Legends have been great so far. Respawn has successfully been able to not only survive the decreasing hype around the battle royale genre but also put out great content.

Respawn has been so far, able to avoid EA’s curse of destroying once-great studios. And we hope that keeps on going. The studio has put out some amazing updates over the last few years and their reception has almost always been positive. But due to it being a battle royale game and the studio functioning as one of EA’s subsidiaries, the rumor cycle of a shutdown has come up again. This time it’s about Apex Legends shutting down in 2023. So, is this true? Let’s find out!!

Is Apex Legends Shutting Down in 2023?

EA and its awful leadership have led to many great studios shutting down. Visceral Games and Westwood Studios are just some of the companies from a list of many that suffered under EA and died. At first, it seemed that Respawn Entertainment was on the same track, but Apex Legends saved the company. Titanfall 2 was a great game but it didn’t do commercially well enough. In light of this, Respawn decided to put out a battle royale spin-off based on the Titanfall franchise. And the rest is history.

The battle royale genre is brutal and survival is only possible if you are unique from the rest. Epic and Respawn knew this and so did their best to make their games “different”. It’s 2022 and only Fortnite and Apex Legends have managed to maintain a large player base. Apex has been immensely successful in terms of popularity and commerce. So, any rumors about the game shutting down in 2023 are false. Apex even released a new season along with a new legend called Catalyst. And with their foray into the mobile market by launching Apex Legends Mobile, it seems that Respawn wants to keep the game running for many more years.
