Check Game compatibility –

Nvidia has compatible games that it supports. If the game you are playing isn’t supported, then that might be the reason why ShadowPlay is not recording your play session. The Nvidia website has a list of games that it currently supports. Head here and see if the game you are playing is listed.

Reinstall the GeForce Experience App –

A faulty version of the software will not have ShadowPlay functioning at its best. What you need to do is redownload and install it. To do so, you can just head over to the official Nvidia website and download it from there. After the download is complete, reinstall the uninstalled app and see if ShadowPlay works.

Turn on Nvidia Privacy Settings –

Your app may not have the required permission to record your gameplay which can also lead to ShadowPlay not doing its job. To turn on Nvidia Privacy Settings, go to Settings > General. On the right side, you will notice a “Share” option, which you need to select. Your Privacy Settings are now enabled.

Update your graphic drivers –

Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers will most certainly have ShadowPlay unable to record anything at all. So it’s a very good idea to keep them updated whenever an update is available. To do this, go to the official Nvidia website and download the latest driver from there. It can also be done from the GeForce Experience app.

Ensure you have storage space –

Recording games is a very storage-heavy task. That becomes more of a problem, the higher you increase resolution. So, do check that you have an ample amount of storage to save the recordings.
