Use a different headphone –

Before we get to other complex methods, it’s always a good idea to do the simple ones first. And for our first method, we would recommend you try a different headset. In some cases, the problem can be with the headset itself. However, once you have finished checking and if the problem is still there, then go on with our next method.

Clean the port –

Dust build-up is a very common issue in hardware. It’s also one of the many reasons behind most hardware-related issues. In case you haven’t cleaned your console and controller, you should do so. After a thorough cleaning session, connect the audio device, and check if the issue persists.

Reset your controller –

You can also perform a factory reset of the controller. Do remember that you will need to connect your controller again after it. Furthermore, it will revert to default settings and will have all the installed updates deleted. To reset, disconnect it from the console and turn it off.

In the back of the controller, you will notice a small hole located beside the Sony logo. To press the button inside, use a pointy object like a toothpick, pen tip, or something which fits. Continue pressing it for about five seconds. Once you see the lights on the controller flash and turn off, use the USB cable to connect it to the PS5. Press the Sync button and wait for it to resync.

Recharge the controller –

Your controller might be on its last leg in terms of battery. Just charge it and after it’s fully charged, try using it again to see if you are still facing the same problem.

Restart the PS5 –

While this is just a simple method, it’s nonetheless quite an effective one. To restart your PS5, click on the power icon on the PS5 home screen. From the three options given, choose Restart PS5. Let the console restart and check.

Contact Support –

If none of the given methods works, then it’s most likely a hardware issue. Unfortunately, for that, you will either need to replace the console with a new one or contact Sony support.
