RPCS3 CPU requirements: Here’s everything you need to know

Do you want to play classic PS3 games that were very popular back in the day? Well, now you can do so even if you don’t have a PS3 console. With the help of emulators, your PC can run classic PS3 games but that surely comes at a cost. RPCS3 is one of the popular PS3 emulators but running this emulator on your system requires a good CPU to do all the operations. Wondering what CPU requirements are needed to run RPCS3? Look no further, as, in this article, we will be sharing all the details regarding the same.

There are plenty of emulators currently available on the market but RPCS3 takes the lead since it is highly trusted by gamers all over the world and is also an open-source project. Although we can’t say that RPCS3 provides a seamless experience, it is obviously better than the rest, if not the best. Anyways, being so complex and supporting a wide library of PS3 games, RPCS3’s system requirements can be a bit overwhelming for PC gamers. Running this emulator and getting decent FPS requires good hardware and that’s what we are going to share in this article.

RPCS3 CPU requirements: Here’s everything you need to know

Well, RPCS3’s CPU requirements are definitely on the higher side. It is so because RPCS3 is an emulator and most emulators depend on the system’s CPU to provide decent performance. With that being said, here are the CPU requirements of RPCS3-

Recommended

AMD – 6 cores and 12 threads, 8 cores or higher (AMD Zen 2 architecture or higher)
Intel – 6 cores and 12 threads, 8 cores or higher (Intel Skylake architecture or higher)

Minimum

AMD – Any x64 CPU
Intel – Any x64 CPU

Well, if you look at the minimum requirements of running this emulator, you might think that any CPU will be able to run it. However, it has been officially mentioned that any CPU with less than 4 cores having no AVX2 support will not be able to provide enough resources for the emulator resulting in performance issues. So, you must make sure that you have the latest gen Intel/AMD CPU with 6/8 cores for the best results. But, what about GPUs? Isn’t there a need for GPU to run RPCS3? Of course, there is. However, your GPU doesn’t play a major role like your CPU does when running the emulator. So, using any GPU that supports Vulkan API with active driver support is enough.

With all the required hardware in place, you can have fun playing classic PS3 games just like in the old days. We hope this article was able to provide you with all the information you needed.
